Study

Industry needs graduates with up-to-date skills and the ability to expand and develop their products. Industries engaged in nanotechnology and nanomaterials research and development are no different, with numerous surveys of companies having pointed to the need for graduates with a strong background in engineering or in the physical sciences, supplemented with specialised skills.

Studentships

Projects are very often formulated through discussions between prospective students and individual staff members, so if there is an area that interests you but you are unable to find the specific project listed, please contact us to discuss further.

Research course

A PhD is the passport to a career as a research scientist... but that's far from being the whole story! The PhD is a widely respected and highly regarded qualification which certifies that the holder is a highly competent, professional, self-motivated achiever.

Holders of PhDs in physical sciences and electronic engineering are in high demand in areas ranging from engineering industries to finance. Newly qualified PhDs often report that their PhD research has been the most stimulating, rewarding and challenging thing they have ever done.

Each member of academic staff here is a member of the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering or School of Mathematics and Physics.

Postgraduate courses

Nanotechnology is essential for faster electronics with greater functionality, it is the key for energy and sustainability, and is at the heart of every transistor found in every computer. We have a long established reputation in this field.

Our courses are taught by internationally recognised experts and supported by leading research facilities.
